On Wednesday 19/12/01 Michael MacNamara kindly agreed to demonstrate his cookery skills to the Ladies Club. Eleven different courses were created for our delectation- we were able to taste them all- delicious! The dish below shows Michaels roast duck with red cabbage.

Tom Farrar, whose grandmother Sarah Gallagher left Currane for the USA in 1912, has recently visited the area. Tom travelled from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and brought with him a precious collection of Irish coins, the earliest dating back to 1035AD. Tom has generously donated his collection to the Currane community. |

Currane/Belfarsad Ladies Club had a night out bowling in Castlebar, followed by a trip to the cinema to see Bridget Jones' Diary. It was a fun evening. Special thanks to Sean Graven for taking us there and back and for not taking the mickey out of our poor bowling techniques. |

For the past 18 weeks, 28 local ladies have been attending a FÁS back to work training scheme at Glór na dTonn. They have studied a wide variety of topics, computing, communications and presentation. |

Young people from the area are in the process of restarting their foróige club. Adults interested in becoming involved on a rota basis are needed to supervise the club. Please contact Marian on 45374, Bernie on 45213 or Karen on 45737. |
